Yaroslavl is an ancient city on the Volga, the birthplace of the Russian singer Leonid Sobinov.
He became one of the symbols of Russian music of the first half of the twentieth century along with Rachmaninov and Chaliapin.
II International Sobinov Vocal Competition is held on the eve of the 150th anniversary of the great artist, celebrated in 2022.

Chairman of the jury: Vladimir Chernov, world renowned opera singer, professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
Olga Kapanina, Casting Director of the Opera Company of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia
Alex Grigoriev, Director of the TACT Management Opera Agency
Nelly Miricioiu, world renowned opera singer and teacher
Dmitry Yurovsky, Conductor, Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, Royal Flemish Opera in Antwerp and Ghent
Prizes:
- Grand Prix: 200,000 rubles and the laureate title
- I prize: 150,000 rubles and the laureate title
- II prize: 125,000 rubles and the laureate title
- III prize: 100,000 rubles and the laureate title.
The deadline for applications is August 1, 2021.
There is no registration fee for the participants.
Age restrictions: 18 to 35 years old.
Graduates and students of a higher or secondary music educational institution are invited to participate.
Master classes will be held with members of the jury during the Competition.

During the Competition roundtable discussions of scientific works dedicated to the outstanding Russian singer Leonid Sobinov will take place in the Sobinov Memorial House.
The founder of the competition is the Department of Culture of the Yaroslavl Region.
